Formerly a business division of Mando Machinery Corporation (an automotive parts manufacturer), WiniaMando was established in November 1999 when an investor consortium lead by UBS Capital acquired the operations from Mando. As a pioneer in the Korean automotive climate control industry, WiniaMando extended its expertise into the consumer side by introducing a full line of residential air conditioners in the early 1990s. Over the past decade, we have been gradually transforming the business to become a consumer-oriented home appliance company. This initiative was further complemented with the introduction of the Dimchae Kimchi refrigerator (1995), Winia air purifiers (2003), Nuon alkaline-ion water purifiers (2003) and new products currently in the pipeline. Now, WiniaMando has fully shifted its core activities to the lifestyle appliance sector with the sell-off of the automotive climate control business in August 2004. Our strategy is to develop and grow new markets with products and services that make life that much more comfortable in an attractive way. To do so, we are continuing to develop and introduce state-of-the-art, innovative and well-designed products with consistently superior service for our customers.
